Ths US should allow more immigrants from all over the world.

Postby World_Cup » 12/ 11/ 05 10:05 pm

I am sorry if this is the right place to discuss.
But I think this place is the most suitable than others.

The US shoud obviously be more leniant to accept more immigrants from worldwide.
People who goes to US are usually people who have no future in his own country and dream on new life with American Dream.
However, most people face injustice, hatred, racism,.......

I know that Americans don't trust foreigners and have distrust for years...And immigration law is getting much strict.
However, not all foreigners are distrustful.
I say this because I wish I lived in the US and start new life over there.

I am a Buchananite circa 1990 when it comes to border security.

Bring the troops home, and place them on the Southern border. Obviously, a bit difficult right now.

Welcome aboard, World_Cup. From which country do you hail?

Generally, I have no problem with immigrants coming to the the US to start a better life.

At present, my concerns are less the specifics of immigration policy than its with enforcement.

For new immigrants who come here to the US legally, my one word is: Welcome!

Not to scare you away, World_Cup, but I think illegal immigrants to the US, once apprehended, should be fingerprinted, photographed, deported, and never permitted to set foot in the US again.

Could not agree more and the same should apply in Canada

The problem the US has is that its borders are porous. Being a free society, it's hard to monitor people once they get into the country legally.

Basically, anyone who gets into the US, even illegally, gets to stay if they work and don't seek to leave the country, and don't seek government benefits. That's fine by me. We don't need the benefit seekers that infest the UK or Canada.

By various methods, many of these "illegals" become legals anyway, and they're just the kind of people any country would want to have. Not swine like Arer and Khadr.

So if it's fine with you that foreigners break US laws to get into the country, then why should the US even have those laws?

Perhaps you would have no problem if US just let anybody in who wants to come in?

I understand this sentiment, it's quite libertarian, and realistic.

I would have no counter-argument, except that the US gov pays people to not work at the jobs that are being filled by illegals. Vincente Fox stated the obvious when he explained that illegal job-seeking Mexicans were doing the jobs that black Americans on welfare do not want to do. Not very PC, but he is right.

Basically, Pat Buchanan advocates US capitulation to Islamist extremist demands:
    1. Cutting off all aid to Israel.
    2. Withdrawal of all US troops supporting the new Iraqi government.
    3. Withdrawal of all US troops supporting the Afghani government
    4. Withdrawal all US troops from the Middle East.
If the US needs more manpower on its southern border, it can easily hire more border patrol agents and accelerate its buildup of the border fence.

Uh, the US is a country built of immigrants.
Guess what? Prior to the pilgrims, I'd say there weren't a whole lot of Anglo-Saxons on the North American continent.

The US is NOT hostile to immigration - its just that their immigrants are integrated into mainstream society in a way that ours aren't.

That's not the ideal. But the US did rather well during the "open border" period prior to WW I. Short of that, if the immigrants stay "under the radar" by both observing the law, working (so as not to need benefits) and not seeking assistance, US citizens are ahead. Clearly, there's a demand for labor that US citizens cannot or will not fill.

Unlike the Muslim "guest workers" in Europe, our immigrants, legal or illegal, tend in general to agree with our work ethic, system of government and morals. These people are here to work with us, not kill us.
If it's us or them, I choose us.

I don't think capitulation is the right term. I've read numerous Buchanan columns, and I find him very reasonable. I'll respond in order of your points.

1) Cutting of aid to Israel- not my understanding. Last I read, Buchanan advocated a balanced position vis-a-vis Arab-Israeli-US relations. I don't see this as a problem. Not all Arabs are maniacs. And I've noticed that quite a lot of them live in the area.

2) I'd have to see wher he said such a thing.

3)+ 4) per above. Not my understanding. Would you refer me to his statements?

Problem is they do use government benefits like the health system, if they have kids that are born in the country the kids are automatically American citizens and get free schooling, they pay almost no taxes, and most send their money out of the country to Mexico. Those are the good ones that are "law-abiding". The bad ones spread disease and commit crime. Uncontrolled immigration would be a disaster. canada's "controlled" immigration is bad enough.
