It would almost seem that way, as US state system gives states so many powers, that California as such a big state has chosen to uses in different ways then most of the rest of the United States. Such as special gas refinery standards, fixing electrical power prices, special automobile pollution standards, controls on the importation of fruit, ect... all of which probably cost California a Bundle, but you know what, I DON’T CARE! I anti paying for it!
And their not going to shove it down my throat, not if my senator and a most if not most all of the other state’s senators have anything to say about it!
Ya you would think they were a different country. but you know on the other hand one could argue that in some ways California is probably the most American of all the states. as they are so much a combination of all of us! Just the conservatives in California have the misfortunate of having a slight liberal popular majority. In their biggest cities of LA(not as much), and San Francisco(Big Time).
You see this is what happens you allow a popular vote for president, instead of an electoral cottage. Liberals can take over all the big cities, and run the whole state!
