WASHINGTON — As President Bush's team works furiously to get ready for the 55th presidential inauguration on Jan. 20, events are also being planned in protest of the president's big day.

The nation was strongly divided about issues like the Iraq war, the War on Terror and the economy during this year's presidential election between Bush and Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry. Though the election is over, some of the president's detractors say they aren't done complaining.

"For the past four years, the Bush administration has tried to silence the voice of the people. We are coming to Washington on Jan. 20 because we want our audience with the president," said Jet Heiko, a 31-year-old activist from Philadelphia who launched www.TurnYourBackOnBush.org on Nov. 3, the day after the election. "We hope to inspire people to keep turning their backs on the Bush administration and its policies."

Heiko's group anticipates that more than 10,000 people from 41 states will come to Washington on Jan. 20 — the day of the swearing-in ceremony, a parade and various balls — to "turn their backs" on Bush as the president rides by them on the parade route.

"We want to be clear," Heiko said. "We are not turning our backs on our country, we are turning our backs on Bush."

When are these left-wing babies gonna suck it up and shut up!

The people have spoken and they have spoken for BUSH!

They won't get anywhere near the inaugural ceremonies, so why don't they just stay home and whine there!

I'm sick of these idiots carrying on like a bunch of kindergarten babies.

Get a real life people!

Personally Gimpgirl, I would like to see inauguration ceremonies toned down. Let's face it; these things have become a skeptical that would rival a coronation. I think it would be far more "American" to have a simple ceremony with a small party afterwards to thank those that supported the candidacy. If these things were a little smaller in scope and size, it would not attract the kind of protests that will take place come January.

Each is the proper guardian of his own health, whether bodily, or mental or spiritual. Mankind are greater gainers by suffering each other to live as seems good to themselves, than by compelling each to live as seems good to the rest." ~ John Stuart Mill

I agree with Red Green but I also think that those persons who lost the election should realize that there was an excellent turnout and that the voters chose Bush. Nuff said. Time to move on. The time to rally is in 2008 - it's not to spend 4 years whining. The US is a democracy and the democracy has spoken.

So the tools are going to go protest Bush so they can say their piece to him.

And the name of this group is? Turn your back on Bush.......

Uhm, they want to ignore Bush but they demand he listen to them???

They don't realize that they have proportionally much more idle time on their hands than they have ambition.

It like a bad joke now. They demand a chance to tell Bush to ignore them.....somehow I don't think he's going to have a problem with this.
They don't want to prove a point, they just want someone to justify their actions....does this sound like self-doubt?

The United States is not a democracy. The United States is a Republic.

If the United States were a democracy, it would be Canada.
