Do those in the opposition parties ever read a news paper other than the Union Voice? Perhaps Canadians should send them the international financial section #-o

NDP launches attack ads on Stephen Harper’s economic record

The NDP has released daring attack ads against Prime Minister Stephen Harper, claiming his Conservative government is responsible for the largest deficits in Canadian history and accusing the Tories of leading the country into another economic downturn.
The ads directly attack what is perceived to be Harper’s strong suit, the economy, a move made famous by Republican strategist Karl Rove. The Harper Conservatives won their first majority government last year by touting their economic management to Canadian voters......................http://news.nationalpost.com/2012/07/10 ... ic-record/

Matt Gurney on the ads
The NDP ad isn’t so much a precision blow against any particularly facet of Conservatives’ time in office, but rather a general assault on their competence and record, not to mention their priorities. Indeed, the ad is not all that different from the Conservative “He’s just visiting” line of attack against former Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff. It seeks to paint a picture with broad strokes and define the Tories rather than rebut or criticize any given Conservative position.

Pointless.

In three years Harper will be running around the country bragging about slaying the deficit and handing out cheques for pet projects with the new found surplus.

The industry/business policies being implemented now will be paying off in spades by then.

Watch for falling unemployment, more have provinces and some big companies moving to Canada.

The NDP and their little ads will be a forgotten memory.

Anyone with an IQ larger than the NDP caucus knows that the ad is complete bullshit. Harper didn't create the 2008 recession and it was the NDP screaming that they would bring down the Tory minority government if they didn't fork out billions of dollars and create the deficit. Of course, their answer would have been to raise taxes, as always. OAS is not "your pension". It is simply an entitlement given out to older people making up to six-figure incomes for which they have made no direct contributions to what so ever.

For the party of moral and cultural relativism, they completely avoid the fact that Canada has the strongest economy in the world, in relative terms.

I think Matt's been standing a little too close to the festival smoking tent.

Matt Gurney on the NDP attack ad: Bad start, strong finish

On Tuesday, the federal New Democrats released an attack ad targeting the Stephen Harper-led Conservatives. Posted to YouTube in English and French, the ad goes directly for what the Tories (and many others) have long believed is their best strength — Conservative economic management.

Sort of, at any rate. The NDP ad isn’t so much a precision blow against any particular facet of the Conservatives’ time in office, but rather a general assault on their competence and record, not to mention their priorities. Indeed, the ad is not all that different from the Conservative “He’s just visiting” line of attack against former Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff. It seeks to paint a picture with broad strokes and define the Tories rather than rebut or criticize any given Conservative position on its merits........................http://fullcomment.nationalpost.com/201 ... ng-finish/

If you are watching oil, copper, and gold prices, you will see that the world is on the verge of economic collapse. We will never reach surplus again.

Marni Soupcoff: The NDP’s new attack ad on Harper distorts and offends — but it might just work

Marni Soupcoff Jul 11, 2012 – 1:02 PM ET
The NDP’s new ad accusing Stephen Harper of creating the worst deficit in Canadian history is kind of funny — in that melodramatic cheesy way that these ads frequently are.

There’s a menacing drum beat, shots of Harper looking unnaturally sweaty, and helpful messages flashed on the screen in huge type. You know, subtle stuff, like “ECONOMIC DOWNTURN” and “ATTACK THE MOST VULNERABLE CANADIANS.”

The ad ends with the narrator declaring, “Stephen Harper has created the worst deficit in Canadian history and you are paying the price.” Wow.

Unfortunately, this is a pretty mild example of a negative ad — at least if you count U.S. political spots in the mix. There’s hyperbole, simplification, exaggeration and falsehood, but at the end of the day, nothing particularly vile or personal is actually said of our greasy-looking prime minister. (Though perhaps, as Michael Bolen suggests at The Huffington Post Canada, all that perspiration is meant to evoke negative memories of Richard Nixon in 1960?)

That could be because Canadians just don’t have the stomach for dirt-throwing that Americans do, though the content of the ad suggests we do tolerate similar idiotic reductive reasoning.

At Macleans.ca, the suggestion is that the Conservatives should be flattered by the new ad because of the resemblance it bears to their own efforts................http://fullcomment.nationalpost.com/201 ... just-work/

Surplus will be back summer of 2015. No matter what.
