Postby Connie Fournier » 07/ 19/ 09 9:01 pm

McKenzies' Trails West has generously donated six tickets to the following event. We are auctioning them off in pairs and we'll start the bidding at $80 per couple.

You can bid on the tickets by replying to this thread, and the high bidder(s) on Thursday morning at 7am EDT will win.

Check out the McKenzies' Trails West website for more details, and some amazing photos!

Allen Christie:

In the BBQ Tent at McKenzies' Trails West
Sunday July 26

For anyone who may still be unfamiliar with Allen Christie, he is one of the top country music entertainers in the province of Alberta, with a host of his own unique sounds and songs, as well as a wide variety of music both old and new.

Allen's family and the McKenzie family go back many years, including a centre spread in McLeans magazine of the wild horse race at the Calgary Stampede, featuring Allen's grandfather, Ralph Lewis and my father, Ed McKenzie. Allen's roots are tied to rodeo, horses, and ranch life, and he is the real deal. As well some other members of the Christie family have worked on the trail here at McKenzies' Trails West in recent years. It is with great pride that we present Allen Christie for your entertainment pleasure again on July 26, 2009.

Listen to some of Allen's songs and read his bio here.

Allen will be joining us for some excellent, McKenzie style, live Rocky Mountain entertainment.

Cost is $45/person and includes our famous Cowboy steak BBQ.

Meet and Greet will start at 4:00pm, followed by the Steak BBQ, then music and dancing.

Come early and book a trail ride before the BBQ.

Come and spend the night. Camping and Motel are available accross the highway at The David Thompson Resort

Seating is limited,so reserve a spot early for this Great Entertainment Package in the Rockies!

For more info, or to make your reservations phone (403) 721-2132

People, I'm unable to pursue this opportunity due to the shin-dig in Montana but I'm familiar with the location. The Cline River region past Nordegg prior to the Saskatchewan River Crossing Banff Park Gate is breathtaking in it's beauty - and utter lack of traffic. The shores of Abraham Lake are reachable from the David Thompson highway (AB #11) and the high country meadows of the Kootenay Plains just minutes away are the thing of movie sets where wild mustangs are routinely spotted in addition to a multitude of other wildlife - including black bears.

The music package here is a bonus. The location alone is worth the drive and the weather forecast for this weekend is spectacular.

Roughly 15 minutes east of the location:

Make a weekend of it. Stay here virtually right across the highway:

I wish I could go!

We're going to settle for the Liberty Summer Seminar this weekend. It'll be cool, but not as cool as this!

Heck, if I were around I'd pop for all the tickets and get a group together for a kick-ass weekend. It's perfect - world class location; everything you need right there (DT Resort across the highway also has a nice restaurant and a liquor store); great music; NO drinking and driving.

Did I mention the only other business in the area is a helicopter tour outfit who whistle you over to the Columbia Icefields on the Banff-Jasper Icefields Parkway? (about a 15 minute flight away)

C'mon Albertans! Look at the weather forecast. Get some friends together for the weekend with your tents, RV's, whatever. Make a weekend of it.

This is a great opportunity that has the added bonus of assisting this site. It's WIN-WIN!!!

I appreciate the offer, but must decline.I had recently gotten my paycheque and it is only enough to pay the rent and some food and fuel to get back and forth to work. I can;t afford to do much or go anywhere for another 2 weeks.Next payday in two weeks will be a little bit better since I only have insurance to pay on my vehicle.Right now it isnt much because I have rent to pay on this one.I dont want to use my credit card because that is for urgent emergencies, and I am one who prefers to live within my means instead of racking up huge debts.
