After moving to Dearborn, Michigan, I bought my first .357 Ruger. After taking a concealed weapons course, I rapidly found that it was just simply a tool that one used to accomplish a task.

In the Detroit area, that task is protect yourself.

The police cannot protect all individuals against all other individuals. Therefore one has the right, and the obligation, to protect one's self.

Deer hunting with a .357 takes a fair amount of skill and practice. Substituting a 14" barrel for a 4" one and chambering a suitable round such as a JHP at 200 grains - the minimum you'd want is 180 grains at 1400 fps.

Backup concealed guns like a .380 or even a .22 semi are probably all the average individual needs.

Why should guns of any size be licenced?

Psycho wrote:It's a very simple concept. Scrap the gun registry.

License + register people who have passed gun training. Monitor those people to ensure if they get convicted of certain crimes, their license is pulled.

Then change the laws so that anybody not licensed who carries a gun gets an automatic year in jail.

Anybody (licensed or not) who is convicted of a crime involving a gun gets an automatic five year (added onto) whatever penalty they receive...

No bargaining - the sentence is non-negotiable... :a-smoke:
.

Just a question: why license guns? Britain licenses televisions for the fees and the control. Is the licensing good for television viewers? Then why license guns? I agree that crimes involving guns should be subject to heavy handed penalties. The guns will flow over the border and nothing can or will be done to stop it. Therefore, the only way that Joe Citizen can reasonably expect to live in such a world is to be able to carry concealed and without restrictions and bureaucratic impositions.

Too many jobs created threw paper tiger cycle and place to drop good buddy if they lose election. :libnot: Would burn too many people that created it. :libnot:
Also justify that extra money to auditor general in the piggy bank.
Gun control was the last concern; pork barreling come first to grease there own wheels.
CPC has been hack and it security compromise.
Now it is just lip service to keep public off its back. :libnot:

This smells of a reneging in the wind. My how things change. Just another case of wishful thinking and high hopes that conservatives would get some bones thrown to them dashed again. This is just the setup to start letting people down easy that nothing substantial is going to happen. Maybe a little tweak here or there to keep the fish on the line. It will turn into another betryal in search of a majority. Will the CPC become the new liberal Liberal party? So far it looks like a very good possibility. Yes these early days are telegraphing what the future is for us.

I mean the gun control dept. in New Brunswick. Conservative Party does not want to burn any ties to the province by shutting it down. :cpc:

Listen to Micheal Enright trash the Harper government in his opening of Sunday Morning today. The made-in-toronto opinion is entirely partisan and unbalanced. CBC shoots itself in the foot yet once again.
