maybe it's a long-lost aunt, just returned from South Africa having found a diamond lode, looking for the little boy who gave her some food when she escaped from the prison ship that was going to transport her, although she was subsequently caught and transported anyways, and now she's snuck back in but wants to thank him.

Did Mark have any aunts who disappeared when he was a boy?

I'd be heading down to city hall to find out if anyone has asked or filed papers to access information pertaining to any property you might own. The info is easily accessable to the enemy's amongst us.
Section 13 reminds me of this poem: I am judge I am jury says cunning fury. Ill try the whole case and condemn you to death

Do they have to file something to get access to that information?

Yes. There is a service fee to access any land titles record and the date of access and name of who accessed the record should be on file. You want the provincial land titles office where all title transfers and mortgages are registered. As long as you have an accurate land description, accessing the record should not be difficult (or expensive). Check on-line for the office closest to you.
The most effective way to stifle democracy is to transfer decision-making from the public arena to unaccountable institutions: activist judges, human rights tribunals, parliamentary committees, civil service bureaucrats and political party hacks.

And if you are a lawyer, have an A/Crown Prosecutor for a partner and she works in a building where Land titles already exists - suspect that such searches on behalf of the crown are seldom charged or notated. I seriously doubt that anyone would be that careless.

There have been cases over the years where titles have been achieved without the owners consent/knowledge but this lady - to announce her prescence by asking such a question is not likely to be too sophistucated.

I still think she is a trucker groupie with a mobile home/trailer wanting to give Mark :)

Looking at this from a different direction ...

This pretend woman - claiming aunt status of Mark - Anyone who knows Mark (even casually) would know that an "auntie" would have to be a serious senior citizen. So unless this woman showed up asking questions from behind a walker, she had no clue as to who Mark was or much of anything about him - ergo - no homework

Now who would show up with lies and a wild story - knowing full well that Mark's employer would relate it back to Mark? Someone who didn't care that Mark found out or someone that wanted Mark to know he was being stalked.

Dismiss the process server type as they get paid per service and time is money - they don't waste time on idle chit chat - also as Connie noted, she and Mark have been served on numerous occasions and have a lawyer who accepts service for them as well.

Could be a shakedown
Could be a semi-veiled threat

Now who pays for this woman's time ?
- time off during the day
- gas / car costs
- she is either being paid by someone who didn't provide any real info on Mark or,
- she is freelance and looking to score her profit at some given conclusion point in this exercise

And, who would commit some sort of fraud ? (if indeed it was)
- someone who is not afraid of the consequences
- someone who has done this before and knows how to get away with it
- someone who rides slippery slopes

So who's not afraid of doing this stuff ?
- someone from the legal community
- someone from the gobmint
- someone from law enforcement

hummm ?
any ideas folks ?

We haven't forgotten about this.

From the Criminal Code of Canada:

Personation with intent

403. Every one who fraudulently personates any person, living or dead,

(a) with intent to gain advantage for himself or another person,

(b) with intent to obtain any property or an interest in any property, or

(c) with intent to cause disadvantage to the person whom he personates or another person,

is guilty of an indictable offence and liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding ten years or an offence punishable on summary conviction.

********************************************

264. Criminal harassment

264. (1) No person shall, without lawful authority and knowing that another person is harassed or recklessly as to whether the other person is harassed, engage in conduct referred to in subsection (2) that causes that other person reasonably, in all the circumstances, to fear for their safety or the safety of anyone known to them.

Prohibited conduct

(2) The conduct mentioned in subsection (1) consists of

(a) repeatedly following from place to place the other person or anyone known to them;

(b) repeatedly communicating with, either directly or indirectly, the other person or anyone known to them;

(c) besetting or watching the dwelling-house, or place where the other person, or anyone known to them, resides, works, carries on business or happens to be; or

(d) engaging in threatening conduct directed at the other person or any member of their family.

Punishment

(3) Every person who contravenes this section is guilty of

(a) an indictable offence and is liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding ten years; or

(b) an offence punishable on summary conviction.
