Which Bay is that?

The out crop in the background looks like Gonzales Point. Or were you out in the western part and this is from Esquimalt Lagoon? And the out crop is Albert Head.

You are right on the money on your third guess. :) It was out near Albert Head at a place called Weir's Beach. You can see Albert Head to the right of the picture in the silloette.

Hey, I grew up on Gonzales Bay. I was there for almost 20 years of my life. You got a good eye Braveheart for recognizing land detail.

I grew up on Beachwood Avenue and spent much of my youth catching crabs in Gonzales Bay.

Correction, I meant William Head to the right in the silhouette. :)

So did I :) How old are you Albertabound?

I'm 33 and lived on Gonzales Bay from about 3 years old until I was 22. I went to Margaret Jenkins Elementary School from K-7. I lived about 4 doors down from the Monkey Tree Store.

I have a good visual memmory for land marks.

I get out of AB on regular basis and head for the Coast. Spend my time over in Cordova Bay, hanging out at the Ridge. I am still trying to get a hole in one there.

Also ex CHIPS policeman with a sail boat come up for six months just coasting around the Gulf Island for six months.

I lived in the Fairfield District on Beechwood Ave during the forties and also attended "Maggies Junkshop". Learned to play baseball at Hollywood Park where our local pickup team proclaimed themselves the "Hollywood Stars" as we set out on our bicycles to battle the "Burnside Bums. Our team had no age limit, you just had to show up to play,it was a great place to grow up.A time when being Canadian meant something.

I recently saw a program on tv about renting wave runners in Sidney and taking them across to the west side of San Juan Island (around Lime Kiln Park). It looked like a scream! I'm going to check that out for our trip there next summer.

Victoria is becoming a shorter and shorter stay for us each year. The entire island is so wonderful, Telegraph Cove, Tahsis, Tofino and so many other beautiful places. Victoria has a lot of homeless kids running the streets and they are getting way out of hand running around screaming and cursing all night. I'm through staying in the inner city after having tried almost every hotel there. Tofino has the kids too but where we stay, they wouldn't be allowed in.

Roger that!

Amongst other island places, I remember a small town south of Ladysmith that had fallen on troubled times but resurrected itself as a trendy place full of curio shops, antique stores and the like. You had to turn east from the Malahat Highway and there was a fairly steep descent to the harbor level. I can remember wandering around and having some superb fish and chips there.

What was that place?

Probably Chemanius, a neat little community with murals all over the buildings on main street.
