Big name to join CP as candidate

Great news if it pans out.

EXCLUSIVE: ROBINSON WANTS IN
Bourque has learned that onetime PC Youth wookie turned taxpayers dragon slayer Walter Robinson is set to launch a bid for the Conservative nomination in his home riding of Ottawa-Orleans. Robinson, who left his gig as federal director of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation last Friday, had toyed with the idea of running for Mayor of Ottawa in the recent municipal elections. The arrival of Robinson into the Conservative Party is growing proof that the new political entity is attracting the serious interest of big names. Sources tell Bourque the media-savvy Robinson is expected to mount a fierce well-financed bid against perrenial Liberal backbencher Eugene Bellemare. In an exclusive conversation with Bourque, the candidate-to-be confirmed he will take no sides in the developing leadership race, adding he will not seek the party's helm at this time. Last week, Bourque reported that his CTF predecessor Jason Kenney, the CA MP, would be supporting NB Premier Bernard Lord's leadership bid.

Hanger and now Kenney (both from Calgary) supporting Lord (from NB)and not Harper. I smell trouble in Harper's personal river city. Fellow economic conservative Robinson is not backing Harper either.

LL, Bourque has an interesting way of wording things. Remember, he's a Liberal.

If you read closely they said that it was good that he would put his name in for the leadership. The more the merrier. They support him RUNNING. They didn't say that they would back his run. There's a significant difference.

Nope just reports with no reasons (like Bourque here), this is the first I have heard of Kenney. I would assume that Harper has potentially pissed off a large portion in caucus with his muzzling MPs on important issues and many other things as well.

It would seem that he may be beginning to loose the support of caucus.

Keith Martin who has lined up with Harper is really not exactly a prize conservative to use for display purposes.

Vli Robinson is running as a candidate for MP not for the Leadership.

Robinson is expected to mount a fierce well-financed bid against perrenial Liberal backbencher Eugene Bellemare. In an exclusive conversation with Bourque, the candidate-to-be confirmed he will take no sides in the developing leadership race, adding he will not seek the party's helm at this time.

Trouble, TY.
Losing Jason Kenney is about the largest signal I can think of that Mr. Harper has lost social conservatives.

Yes trouble, I know. Stricktly as a single MP, which is appropriate.

The quotes from Kenny and Hanger seem to be gone from Bourque's history of news. However, when it came out (rumour) both Kenney and Hanger had quotes and they simply said they would like to see Lord in the race as many people would. They did NOT say they were backing his leadership bid!

Don't get too worked up yet by cleaverly worded stories on Bourque.
