Edward, I have done everything from digging ditches ( and yes, it's a real job- it's hard work. ) to running corporations ( It's harder- you have to deal with people. Lots of them... ) and I've always used this simple metric to decide if you are a good man or woman...

1)- be honest
2)- work hard
3)- take care of your family & job

That's the basics of being a good human being. To me.

I'm sure those with high degrees and higher breeding than I have can argue various subtleties-- but I always found that when I applied those standards to people in real life it "worked for me."

I think you are in the camp of the "good." And that's "close enough for government work" for me.
