Anthem in English only at the Calgary Stampede.

So, apparently some one got a little peeved off over the singing of O Canada in english only at the Calgary Stampede. With all the problems going on in this country, and the world, someone got a little upset over french not being included in the singing of our national anthem. I guess the West has offended some crybaby francophone again. Awwww. I bet that if english was left out in quebec, it would not have been brought up at all. Who would care? The anglophone traitorious media would not say a thing, they only go after what anglophones say and do that offend someone. The anglo media says nothing about a unilingual french speaking Quebec, which is an insult to english Canadians and shows prejudice towards the anglophones of that province. Some Charter Of Rights, eh?

So, I thought that this was The Calgary Stampede, an Alberta Rodeo Show made in Alberta for Albertans? Why should they sing part of the national anthem in french? This is not a Federal government show. This is a Rodeo put on by Albertans who just happen to speak english, not french. If the french cannot understand english whether visiting or living in Alberta, well what are they doing in Alberta then? How do they get by living or visiting without speaking or understanding english? It is kind of pathetic when one thinks that one comes from a province, that is surrounded by english and one cannot speak or understand english. That just shows ignorance and thinking that the rest of Canada should cater to them in french.

This notion that Canada is bilingual is a lie. Canada is not bilingual, it is a forced bilingualism, where anglophones are forced to pay their taxes towards a language policy that seems to want to cater too francphones without caring about anglophones.

I say good on Alberta. English is your language and standup for it, and don't allow it to take second place over others.

If I heard correctly this decision has been reversed and the anthem will be bilingual tonight after the chuckwagon races. Information from Calgary is a bit muddled today owing to an office tower fire at Shaw Centre taking out their top three radio stations including Dave Rutherford on QR77. The poor things are listening to 630 Ched Edmonton on the Corus network, who are now covering Stampede issues as a courtesy.

I fully expect the anthem to be in Mandarin at Canucks games as early as this winter. It would make far more sense than French in Southern Alberta actually. As I've posted, I once hadn't heard French spoken at all for five years until I heard it at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas.

There is virtually no French spoken here although Espanol and Tagalog is common in check out lines at the market.

Im sure Queebec would be honoured to play the anthem in english everytime its played.
